welcome to the sphere

August 2011, Toledo, Ohio: The poetry gathering of the year! Come. Get in touch for details.

NOTE: As some of you remember, this used to be a vibrant, active community and we got a lot of projects going over here. I personally felt connected and involved, and supported in my work and efforts to collaborate.  This network really felt like a home for me on the web.

For some reason, it did not feel the same after ning began charging money for these networks and changed things. We lost our groups feature, like the flash prompt group. Blogs required moderation, and honestly things like that are a real pain in the ass in a free flowing type of community.  I admit that even I, the person who started this network, have gone quiet around here these days.

Many of the projects have slowed down as well because I have simply run out of steam, reached my max, came to a point where I just could not keep it all straight in my head and when that happens it is time to scale back. I'm trying to do that.

So for those of you that have asked about things around here, this is where we are at: I think we are paid up until July, then maybe we should let it go. If somebody wants to take it over, that is fine. We should make copies of our content, such as pictures and blog posts and things we want to keep.

Thank you guys for your friendship, help, support, interest, and honestly- for being out there. Many of us have days when we feel discouraged, wondering if we should bother or if we are spinning our wheels. That is truly when the presence of friends and community makes the difference.

Let's stick together, keep each other afloat, stay in touch.

Lynn

Submit And Request using Submissions Manager

You can now use the submissions manager at Fashion For Collapse to submit poems, fiction, and photographs to MUST. You can also use the submission manager to request issues. See here.
Remember that each piece needs to fit on 1/8th of a page, the pages are small because of the format. Thank you for your support, and for your help in distributing these zines. Thousands of these have made their way around the world, and we appreciate the help with printing, folding, and distributing. Get in touch if you would like to get involved. -Lynn

MUST #16, 100k Poets For Change Issue

MUST #16 was a special issue, for the 100K Poets For Change events held all around the country on Saturday. This issue was available at the Elyria, Ohio event that a bunch of us attended and featured poems by participants. If you would like a copy of this issue, please send an email to Lynn at lynnalx@gmail.com. There is also a quote by Michael Rothenberg, (Big Bridge) explaining his motivation for encouraging the poetry community to take part. This event was an affirmation of our desire to connect, coalesce, and support one another for the change we seek.
You can check out photos from the event at the Full Of Crow facebook page, or on Lynn's facebook here.
The next few issues are coming up, 17-20. You can still send content, any time. And if you would like to edit an issue, get in touch. Thank you for your support over the years.

Upcoming MUST Issues

Seeking pieces for new issues of MUST, the printed microzine that started and remains a collaborative effort. The pages are small, so please consider this when you send. The way it works is simple: you send your piece and a mailing address. When the pages are full, we move on to the next issue. You get a copy or two and you can also download and print as many copies as you want to distribute. They are distributed in book stores, at readings, festivals, through cooperative relationships, in laundromats, on the street. Wherever and whenever. MUST is produced by me, Lynn Alexander, but if you  are interested in putting together an issue that is really easy to do. Just collect the content and send a doc and we will get together and talk about the look, photos, etc.
I can also send a template in the format of your choice and you can put it together yourself and prep the file. The purpose of MUST is to spread written and visual art wherever we can. It is inexpensive and a quick read, and it is relatively easy to distribute. Check out some files of back issues, and get to it! Send to: lynnalx@gmail.com and mention "MUST" microzine in the subject. Content should fit on 1/8 of a page. Think short. Visual, found text, experimental, poetry, all forms ok. Thanks. -Lynn
