A brief summary of some happenings in the world of small press! Absurdist Monthly Review #8, Literary Mary May Newsletter, Reviews, More. In the last post, I mentioned the May newsletter for Literary Mary, and my feature about Cheryl Townsend. There’s also a piece by my new friend Joseph Grant who has work at our site, Full [...]

Literary Mary Newsletter: Women In Small Press

I’m thrilled to be part of the Literary Mary newsletter, where I will be working on a column about women in small press. The first one can be found in the May issue, where I wrote about Cheryl Townsend, a woman I admire and her work in publishing and art activism. Downloads of both April [...]

A Trunk Of Delirium

Cheryl Townsend and Suzanne Savickas (WARM Arts) have a new mag in the works- A Trunk of Delirium. They are currently accepting submissions: “giddily” they say. This is a part of Le Pink Elephant Press. At this time it looks like this will be a printed, subscription magazine.

New Issue of The Poetry Warrior

Poetry Warrior Issue Four is up. Check it out here. Luca Penne has some flash, I enjoyed “Devil Enough For Anyone” : “confirming his infernal purpose”. Edward Wells II has some flash as well. “It’s Sunday” is strange, but funny. The bathtub vignette is priceless. Pondering an art installation while washing body parts. Dan Provost goes [...]

Full of Crow will now have a section just for reviews, instead of posting them here. Crow Reviews will be dedicated to reviews of chapbooks, small press offerings, novels, zines, independently published titles and non-commercial “big house” publications. Review:”Point Loma Purple”, Bill Shute

Bill Shute: “Point Loma Purple: The Life And Work of Katherine Tingley, An Imagined History in Mosaic Verse” . Poetry. 2007. Word Mechanics. This 2007 volume by Bill Shute is a work to revisit. He achieves something very magical in Point Loma Purple, but keeps it accessible: he tells us a story. In these “mosaic [...]

“Acres” by Bill Shute, Kendra Steiner Editions

“Acres” by Bill Shute, Kendra Steiner Editions, #131, 2009. What have we become? If observing the industrial minicosm of Bill Shute’s Acres can tell us anything, it’s that we are increasingly a society as he concludes: without ideas, only things. And so he takes us through a setting of things: buildings with their smoky windows, paradoxical [...]

The Sphere

The Sphere is a social network, like many of the others popping up all over. We don’t make any lofty claims about what it is or what it isn’t. It should be understood as an attempt to take advantage of technology to continue our commitment to community and communication and connection among members and potential [...]
